VSF in Retrograde: Year One
Each VSF piece is a love letter—to a movie quote, a funny memory, a person, a moment you can’t stop replaying. Every one is one-of-a-kind, inspired by the tiny, everyday things that sneak up and make you smile.
This collection is Year One: the first time I worked up the courage to share what I’d been quietly making when no one was watching. I grew up in a house where crafting was basically a second language, so teaching myself to crochet felt like the obvious next chapter.
And honestly? I was done handing over my hard-earned money to giant corporations for products that met me halfway—if that. So I started making my own: slower, sturdier, and full of heart.
This collection features bags made from a mix of recycled t-shirt yarn and recycled cotton cord. At this point in my crochet journey, I was playing with new silhouettes, color blocking, and mixing materials—and I also realized I probably should’ve paid more attention in math class. (To be fair, if math had been this much fun, I would’ve been a straight-A student.) This is where I learned stitch tension, leveled up my hand-sewing, and where my relationship with zippers slowly shifted from hate… to love.
Every win and every “well, that didn’t work” moment turned into a collection made trial-by-fire—bags that finally made sense in both aesthetics and function. And it’s the stage where I decided that if someone was going to spend their hard-earned money on something I made, I was going to make sure it was money well spent.
